Stock FD Shifter Position in Tunnel?

Does anyone recall or have reference pictures of how the stock shifter was positioned in the tunnel opening?
I didn't get a good chance to look at it before everything was ripped out at the shop, but now I want to replicate it's position exactly with the TR6060 and a MGW short shifter. IIRC, are the stock shifters placed slightly forward in the opening and are not exactly centered?

We had to shorten the MGW and rod by about 25mm (from memory don't rely on that figure).
We also cut off the piece that shifts the cradle over to the LHS and shimmed it back up on the other side. See below build thread. Not sure if necessary, but on a RHD car it made sense.
Took ages to get it in the right position and leave clearance for the shifter rod on the back of the trans and front of the MGW cradle. Have angled the cradle and shifter parallel with the slope of the trans and centred it with the trans hole. Lever bracket essentially rus forward, but clocked about 25deg towards driver. Shift knob is taller than stock which I like.

Thanks for the info, would the clocking that you did be necessary for a LHD car?
Did you position the MGW shifter exactly center in the opening? Is that how it was like stock?

I shortened my MGW shifter. I don't think you have to shorten it but I did. I did not move it side to side at all though and its fine. It comes with it offset so in 4packets RHD application it would likely need to be moved to the right.

New to forum and doing your above same combination.
MGW says they do not sell the shifter for this setup:
TR6060
Samberg mount
Any of your guys have a part number from them?

You have to get the Camaro SS kit from MGW, measure carefully then shorten the side arms and operating rod by the same amount. Once done it is one of the best shifting transmissions I have come across.

Yes you need the Camaro kit. Get it with the retro style threaded shaft, unless you plan to run an OEM Camaro shift knob.
My attempt at shortening the MGW arms didn't go well. I had a really hard time trying to TIG weld them back together, despite grinding the anodizing back quite a ways from the joint. In the end I didn't feel comfortable with my welds, so I made a CAD model of the shortened arm and 3D printed some prototypes. I also took the opportunity to change the offset of the shifter to center it in the tunnel hole left/right. Now that the fit is dialed in, I am having one of our suppliers CNC some new ones for me.
I did mine a little differently than most. I mounted the MGW supplied dust boot UNDER the tunnel, just like the OEM Camaro mount. It fits like a glove this way, and should be the best seal. I re-used the Camaro backup plate and just had to trim it a little and drill out the welded nuts. The MGW handle can be offset either forward or back - with the shifter in this position and the handle forward it should end up very close, probably within 1/4" of the stock location.

Yep. Nice work. I'm sure you could make a few dollars offering these to the community... Lot's of demand for plug n play.
I was able to shorten the stock Camaro bits and tig them back together. Shifts nicely.

I second the idea of selling some arms. I have two Rx7’s that I would be interested in getting some arms for!

Are you guys referring to the shifter for the T56 Magnum?
Eventually I plan to swap in a Magnum, and I'd definitely be interested in these arms when I get to that point.

No, the 6060 from a Camaro SS which also comes with the closer ratios if you score an LE version.
Tremec are considering producing a Magnum suitable for F body cars which will put the shifter in the same place as a T56 but you can also get a trans from the likes of Tick who will build a T56 type tail housing on a Magnum.

Thanks. Hopefully Tremec will have their, hopefully cheaper, solution by the time I get there.

Well, finally got my custom made arms. Anyone interested in these?
