Fix for 3/8 fuel rail quick connect to AN fitting
« on: March 21, 2011, 09:32:16 AM »
Did this fix last night and I'm pretty pleased with the results.  I took the locking mechanism out of the 3/8 quick connect from NAPA (not sure about part numbers) and put it in the 3/8 to AN fitting from Russell.  It fits perfectly and will take a lot of force to pull it off than the ridiculous plastic insert that Russell uses.

is this the tube to -AN adapter that you are referring to?  The three piece unit that you tighten with a wrench?

He's talking about one of the Russel pieces that clicks on like a factory quick connect and has a -6 on the other side.    They come with a cheesy plastic piece that retains them.

His post says that whatever he put on, "It fits perfectly and will take a lot of force to pull it off than the ridiculous plastic insert that Russell uses"... so I think it's something different.

lol i have mentioned doing this several times but no one took much notice.  the little metal retainer from the dorman (or apparently napa as well) fittings will work and isnt a sissy piece of crap like the plastic ones.

I wondered if anyone had tried this before.  Couldn't find anything amidst the many solutions.

People are complaining about the one from Russel, and it's possible that the one from Aeromotive in my link is of higher quality/better tolerances.. that was my point. I know it's plastic, but it's an alternative.
