How much do you have in your RX7?

Dave's thread about what people bought their shells for got me wondering.   How much do we all have into these builds?

I understand if some people would rather not share (for privacy reasons, or fear that the wife will see ).

Here's the two totals for mine:

Total spent on ALL the combinations (I've had many different engines/transmissions/combinations):  ~28-30k
Total spent on the current build: ~18k + labor

I'm not sure which is worse.   That I've spent 30k dollars on my FC(s), or that 10-12k of it was on crap I didn't keep/use.     On a positive note, I think it would be hard to replicate what I have for what's invested into it, so that makes me feel (a little) better I suppose.

With the purchase price included, I have approximately $12,000 invested.

With the sale of some parts I might have recouped $1000.

My car is strictly budget build but has a lot of wow factor.

Right at 6K.  Started out with a 1K shell.

I was doing pretty well until my engine needed to be rebuilt.  I haven't counted for a while.

When I first finished my car I had about 20K into it including buying the chassis and painting the car minus what I recouped from parts sales.  I have since dumped another 5K or so on wheels&tires, cam swap, new clutch, and general updates/fixes.  I would say at this point in time it's safe to say I have right around 25K into the car.  Quite honestly though, that doesn't bother me whatsoever... I have an incredibly fun & fast car that turns heads everywhere, and I don't owe a penny on it!

I bought a nice, stock running S4 Tii for $3k, but by selling all the rotary crap, I actually made money on the deal.  As far as the Ls1 stuff...probably an additional $12k-$15k, but that includes the engine rebuild, machine work, paint, and interior work, and all the other misc goodies.

I've always got mine in mind. Since I bought the car I've kept a spreadsheet of EVERYTHING I've spent on it, including some <$1 purchases for fasteners and what not, as well as small labor jobs (machining, clutch balancing, powder coating), but not including all of the project-specific tools, or the $1,500+ that's just disappeared due to buying parts that don't work, Dynotested scamming, changing my mind, etc.

I have probably 15k in the engine and transmission alone including the initial cost, rebuild of trans and shortblock, heads, cam, internal upgrades and machine work.

Another 10-15k in mounting equipment, body, interior, stereo etc.

I refuse to add the numbers up in my receipt book.

WTF, you were one of the people that I thought would for SURE have me beat. I'm betting some of the widebody guys and 65imp for sure, and I know Jimlab's last reported approximate number has us all beat.
