t56 magnum shifter
« on: November 23, 2014, 05:28:56 PM »
I decided to fab my own shifter since the one I had was leaking oil and I didn't like the way it felt
I used a 7/16 thick aluminum plate
I moved the shifter arm 5" 1/2 back from center to center , that's the number I came up with
I added a "O" ring on the top part with a washer and a boot on the bottom
installed on the tranny , went thru the gears and they all went in . now I just need to take the car for spin .
the idea is great I hope it works  :)

installed

Does yours leak? I had a sikki before and leak a lot.
Sikki has 4" offset if I remember correctly .

I just test drove the car about 30miles  and is day and night difference..
The travel of the shifter is about 3/4 compare to the old one I had  it was really annoying because the travel felt like it was going up to 1st and way down to 2nd

All you need to do is modify the stock shifter to work in the FD. Much better than Sikky shifter and it's free.

Yes the first batch of Sikky shifters leaked. I waited a year for them to come out with a new version that fixed the leak. So no more leaks.

where did you buy those parts from and who makes them?
I've been searching but can't find anything.  I'm sure I'm just using the wrong search words

^ I think he is talking about the parts to make the shifter. Not wanting to know where to buy the sikky shifter.

I sell the bar stock that was used to modify the stock T56 Magnum shifter.  I've driven them all.... and this one feels better than even the Sikky.  But if you want to spend $500 for the Sikky please do so  :D

hahahaha, Sorry I should have been more clear.

I was actually talking about the shifter the OP made.  I've found out where the parts come from.  By the time you get the plate made, you wouldn't be saving much over buying the Sikky.

Sorry, I wasn't talking about where to buy the Sikky shifter.  I had one of the original ones for the Magnum and had problems with mine.  I returned mine and got the ball rolling on their revised version.  I was curious if all the problems were finally fixed.

As far as modifying the stock Tremmec shifter.  I am really considering that also.  I'm just not sure if I'll have the room without modifying the tunnel more, which I prefer not to do.  I may do it anyway and give it a shot.

I'm just looking for something different than my Redline Shifter that I'm currently using.

Thanks everyone
