FD Hood Strut/Damper Group Buy "Part II"
« on: November 22, 2013, 12:18:18 AM »
I am looking to start a "part II" group buy for FD Hood Strut/Damper kits very similar to what Mik3ymomo recently started and completed a few weeks ago.  I have asked him permission and he's fully in support of me taking over the project and selling these.  I bought a kit for myself and was so impressed with the fit and quality.  Here is a link to the original group buy with Pictures & a video of the product in action:

http://www.norotors.com/index.php?topic=17100.0

As many of you know, the factory hood prop rod is often lost to make room for radiator and intake setups on V8-swapped FD's.  There are a handful of kits on the market which use Gas Struts to assist in opening/closing the hood as well as propping it in an open position thus fully replacing the factory prop rod.  Unfortunately, the majority of the kits use a "cheap" design for the hood bracket which only captures one of the two hinge studs leaving a design that tends to twist and cause headaches for the end user.  The high quality option on the market which captures both studs is very expensive and is not currently available (as far as I can tell).

The kit which I am selling (a Mik3ymomo reproduction) will include:

-LH & RH Hood brackets machined from high quality aluminum
-(2) top quality dampers which are properly sized for the application
-All necessary hardware for a clean install

I would like to have (15) members commit before I begin purchasing all of the components.  The price will be $130.00 shipped which includes paypal fees.  Paypal information and fees will be PM'd to the members on the list when the proper time comes.  If you have any questions, feel free to post up and I will do.  I will be willing to sell kits "without struts" for those who wish to purchase lower force struts for carbon fiber/aftermarket hood options.

That is a really good question. I will get back to you asap... i think maybe quite a few people may be interested in reusing their old struts...-
