BMW M3 440ci LS7 running Samberg Fab parts! Lots of pics
« on: October 29, 2010, 11:33:59 PM »
Mike just got his other LSx powered car completed this week with fresh paint, some new rims running NT-01 255/17's, fresh black interior with Evo suede seats.  He brought it over and I snapped some pictures.  Lighting wasn't the best... but the car looks GOOD!

Running the following Samberg e36 conversion parts:
Kmember
stainless steel headers
trans mount
custom Samberg 2.5" dual exhaust into a beefy Magnaflo dual 2.5 with a single 3.5" outlet muffler.  It sounds healthy!

This should be an easy 10 second car and with the 3.36 gears out back it truly can put the power down of Mike's old... but detuned 440ci LS7 with TFS 235cc heads and FAST 90/90 intake that went 196mph in his FD RX-7 at the TX Mile last Fall in 2009.  This version of the car is running an LS2 computer with DBW 90mm TB and GTO DBW gas pedal.  Very tame until you mash the GO pedal.  It has a Monster Stg 3 clutch and the pedal pressure is like butter.  As light as stock.

Enjoy the pictures!  I gave my 71 year old dad a ride in it (Mike was nice enuf to chuck me the keys) and he loved it.  His glasses about flew off his head as I hit it in 2nd!)

Nasty car.  Hit it with a big shot of spray and it will run with darned near anything on the street.

Hahaha that's awesome, looks totally stock.  What a rad car to put around in.

Needs a dual-outlet muffler with DTM tips though, the single exit looks funky.

I like the single exhaust except it really needs a simple tip. And get rid of that wood ebrake handle. Then it's freaking perfect and I wouldn't touch a thing.

Now counting the drivetrain, how much do you have in the car?  What rear end is it again?

Is that the stock rear?  Can it really handle the torque?

Absolutely love this concept, add A/C and let the bids roll in, I'll be in line :)

Mike changed the interior over from tan to black.  That eBrake handle must be the last thing left to change over.  It used to be green exterior...

It actually has a/c, but it needs to be charged.  The rear is a stock M3 unit.  We have another buddy with a 700rwhp+ turbo M3 and he is running low 10's and cutting 1.40 60' times on it!  These cars hook.

The seats are from a Mitsu Evo with custom brackets.  He saved 45lbs+ simply by switching to these from the full power M3 seats.

Justin and Mike are up at Reno/Fernley race track in NV (Reno) this weekend testing out the car.  It has stock suspension for now with only factory Koni shocks and the nice Nitto NT-01 tires.  Next up are some coilovers and sway bars once a baseline is established.
They have some GoPro cams as well.  See how the footage turns out.

I asked him on his build post if he's running the BMW AC compressor w/ the LSx pcm.  Hopefully he chimes back in later.

Are these parts readily available?  Customer of mine saw this thread and wants me to start budgeting him out a swap.  Apparently LS1's are about the same price as S54 motorsets lol.
