Uhaul car hauler winch
« on: October 01, 2020, 06:39:08 PM »
Whats the best winch to get that I could easily bolt up to a uhaul car trailer and tow my car around if it blows up on a track day?
Would like 3500lb capacity but would I need something like a 5000lb winch to be safe?
Can I just fab up some brackets to make the winch bolt onto the tube frame of a uhaul car trailer to get the thing on it?

Sadly I don't think you'd even be in the running for  that award.

I got a 4500lb winch off amazon for like $136,  But it was able to pull a 57 Ford Econoline Truck with flat tires and that weren't turning onto my trailer.

Im not sure I would use that method from youtube on anything nice.   If you do, make sure that you chalk the tires really well on the trailer so it doesn't move.

A couple people and a running start will get it on the U Haul trailer.

I am speaking from experience.

yeah it works great when I need it.  It has been sitting outside  in the elements for almost a year now on my trailer.  I just keep all the cables in a box and grab a spare battery when I need to use the trailer.  It works every time I need it.  I was thinking about investing $10 into a cover for it though just give it a better chance of survival in the elements.
