Long Time Lurker, v8 Rx7 owner
« on: April 14, 2020, 09:32:12 PM »
Hello everyone, I have been on this forum a while but have never really posted. Anyways, I have a few rx7's but only one of which is v8. I built this car fairly carefully spending money slowly when i found good deals. All in including the purchase price of the car i'm at just under $8,000 invested. That includes the switch pros panel and the holley display. Just for fun I added pictures of my FD and my other FC. I also have 2 FD race cars but not sure what to do with them yet. Possible 1jzgte one of them. As well as a ka24det beater datsun 510.

I don't have any newer pictures of the engine bay, i apologize. The car is a runner now. As you can see once upon a time I had a 1jz in the car. I also converted the car to manual windows while building.

 Its a 1987 TII with:

gen 4 aluminum 5.3/t56
texas speed ported ls6 heads with their valvetrain
ARP Head studs
TSP Cam
Fbody shorties
mcleod twin disc
fidanza flywheel

That's a pretty cool collection of cars you've got there.

Impressive!  Most folks go one or the other (rotary purist or screw-'em-if-they-can't-take-a-joke piston guy).

Looks like fun.  Welcome to the forum.

I'm not a purist in any way, I had another FC with a ka24de (now in one of my datsun 510's + turbo).

I just like tinkering. Its a bad habit in reality,  i get bored of a car and decide "hey lets see if this motor will work".

Got the clutch fixed and the car on the dyno. Pretty stoked on the power considering i have a lot of things holding me back.

The car has a stock ls1 intake manifold which is a pretty terrible intake, ebay shortie headers, and 2.25" mufflers. Even with these three things it made 360whp 360ftlbs. Which for a SBE 5.3 i'm ok with.

If anyone wants to see it on the dyno i filmed it.

As for the next step for this car, although i am happy with the power it made for what it is i am not satisfied with that power level after owning many cars with more. Time to add some forced induction :)
