I am new to the RX7. I have purchased a 1987 RX7 land speed racing chassis. Former owner did a very nice job with the conversion. He ran the car with a Pontiac super duty 4. The car with the previous owner to the person I purchased the car from competed in One Lap Around America with a 350 in the car and won his class in 2010. I am installing a 4.8 LS and will run the car at the Loring Timing Association events. A question I have is he car has a 8.8 Ford IRS rear.
If I want to have a separate rear with a different ratio, are any modification necessary to the case or should any 8.8 case bolt in?
All the best
Ed
I have a 1987 rx7 that has been setup for land speed racing. 4.8 LS engine being built with a T5 transmission.

Welcome to the site!   Do you know if it's a Ronin kit?   If so, I believe it's just the rear cover that needs modified, so you could have a few pre-assembled fronts available and just swap those.

Thanks for the reply.  I don't know who's rear end kit it is. But I am assuming that a 8.8 IRS will bolt in with possibly a few modifications

There are 3-4 case shapes and 28 or 31 spline cv joints so it is not just throw one in. If you have the appropriate case, it is just a r&r.
