ECM /Computer mounting
« on: October 27, 2019, 11:17:21 PM »
I'm trying to find a write up or a how to guide; when my 93 Rx7 was swapped they just left the  ECM Laying in the floor under the carpet in the passenger floor early Hinson Swap, I would like to mount it behind the kick panel and I'm sure it will reach but I don't know how much of the heating fins need to be removed and if the big silver thing currently mounted in there can be removed  so the ECM can fit in there.

you need to remove that gray box there and cut the mounting studs off that hold it and remove the insulation pad also.  May have to get creative with how you tuck the wiring.   I have read almost all of the install guides and have never seen anything on making the ECU fit in that space.

So its safe to say that it can be done? I cant even find a picture of one installed there, I was hoping someone would chime in and add a picture or at least say yeah remove ecm grind the fins and shove it back up in there, and maybe that's all there is to it was just looking for confirmation. Thanks for reply much appreciated, also what is the big grey box?

I would think you could get it up there.  I have not tried just because it wasn't convenient for me.   Mine is in my engine bay where the ABS used to be located.  But the other 4 FD's I have done have it all just under the carpet where yours is.

Ok Thanks I will give it a shot and then if it doesn't fit I will leave it in the floor and mount it to a bracket so it at least isn't flopping around. Thanks again for the info.
