1987 Rx7 LS1/T56 Swap
« on: June 29, 2019, 03:36:52 PM »
I've lost that loving feeling.  Considering either
a) finishing the car
b) selling it as-is
c) parting it out

1987 RX7
115k miles on body/chassis
white w/ blue interior
manual windows
sunroof
15" oem wheels
NA LSD rear
LS1 and T56 out of 2004 GTO w/ ~90k miles
new oil pan, pickup tube, windage tray
Ronin supreme installation kit
new spec stage 1 clutch
new clutch slave and master cylinders
eclipse radiator with over-the-radiator intake
C4 Corvette driveshaft customized with necessary yoke
Corvette FPR
Miata battery
custom AC system (still needs high pressure hose finished)
custom power steering (needs new pump)

I also have a T2 4.10 LSD and axles, a 3-spoke steering wheel, and maybe a few other spare parts laying around.

No rust to speak of.  Paint is so-so, with some clearcoat peeling, but would clean up.  Interior is pretty good.

It runs and "lot drives" well enough to move it around the driveway or onto a trailer.  To be roadworthy:
1. Need to finish exhaust.  Currently ends at oem GTO manifolds.
2. Needs tires.  The current ones have some tread but are pretty old.
3. Needs shifter.

Asking $6500 as-is.  Note that I paid $5k just for the engine and tranny.  Ouch.  Might consider interesting trades.

Located near Charlotte, NC.

Does it just need an Exhaust system? Is it fully operational besides the AC? Would you be willing to ship at Buyers expense?

Depends on what you mean by operational.  It needs lots of little things.  As I mentioned in the post, to drive the car you would have to bolt a shifter/knob onto the T56 shift rod.  The power steering system is fully equipped with new, custom hoses, but the pump was whining loudly and was removed.  It needs to be replaced.  You can drive it of course with the manual steering.  I haven't looked up the date code on the tires, but they are old and I wouldn't trust them on the highway.

I've shipped many cars before.  Yes, I would be willing to work with a buyer to ship it.
