Liking the truck deal so far.. 2018 F150 2wd with the twin turbo 3.5 V6 and the 10 speed. It can tow 13,200 lbs, but Iím not gonna try that. I will miss the Caddy when it sells though.

I agree, all the truck manufacturers are grossly overstating what their trucks can safely tow these days.
Sure, it might move it down the road, but what happens when your little 1/2 ton pickup has to maneuver or stop that load in an emergency???  :o

The ratings donít account for stupidity. To be fair these 1/2 ton truck chassis components are as robust as 15 year old 3/4 ton trucks with similar ratings. People complain about the cost of new trucks, but you are getting roughly the same capabilities out of a modern 1/2 ton that you got with a 3/4 ton in the mid 2000s.

Hey only engineers get the whole mass and inertia thing!!  Marketing people just like big numbers.  I would laugh if someone tried to tow a 13,000 lb enclosed trailer with an F150

Looks like the car is sold.

In all honesty, yes 13k towing sounds a bit lofty. That said most of the truck is different or beefed up to support that tow rating. Everything on this truck is as big as my friends 07 2500HD Duramax with regards to brakes, etc. he tows an ~10k toy hauler with it.

After more research on the ďmax tow packageĒ I have, I found out the truck has -
Bigger radiator, trans cooler and oil coolers
9.75 rear axle
Different front/rear springs
Bigger front stabilizer bar
Upgraded steering gear
Upgraded high payload  FRAME.

F150s actually have 3 different frame options! The high payload frame is the strongest.

Itís interesting they have gotten that granular with specs on these trucks.
