What you want is pretty doable, but it won't be super cheap and it won't make a lot of sense. A swapped car is a challenge, no matter what. Having both an LS1 RX7 and a C5 Z06, I would much rather drive the corvette every day. It was designed and engineered by people way smarter than me, and everything works together properly because of that.

The RX7, on the other hand, had some Idiot with a finance degree and zero engineering experience shove a v8 into it just because it would be fun.

Any swap you do will pose problems along the way. More problems will arise as you drive it because you're one man, trying to do the job that took many automotive engineers years to do originally, and you're using 30 year old parts to do it. I have the hinson kit in my car. Its okay, but I've had trouble with getting the exhaust routed past the trans brace. I've also had trouble with my oil pressure sending unit relocation leaking, optimizing my suspension, and several other things.

Maybe I missed it but I dont think anyone pointed out one major point...what you want (OEM style) will be WAY more difficult and more expensive than those "over the top builds" you referenced....thusly making your build the most "over the top"....

Save yourself a lot of time and money. Buy a C5. Pretend it is an FD.

Buy a C5, drop it off to a body shop to fab you an FD body kit.  Probably cheaper and easier in the long run X.X
