Improving the search capabilities? It's awful.

This site is VERY difficult to search for anything.... why is that?

LS1Tech, Corvetteforum, rx7club etc is a piece of cake to find things.... is it the platform that this website runs on?  It's horrible to look something up. 

Maybe some pointers to improve a search?

I generally use a site specific search on Google for specific searches.

Iíve not looked at advanced search features in a bit, but yes, some of it is the platform.
