1995 RX-7 LS1 T56 V2.0 Reintroduction
« on: September 19, 2018, 09:29:31 AM »
I'm Back!!

In 2007 I bought a shell of a 1995 RX-7 and did an LS1/T56 swap.  I loved that car.  Drove it for 4 years before selling it to a buddy so I could go back to school.   The car needed to be tuned after an engine rebuild and cam/intake install when I sold it.  The car has been sitting where I left it since 2012.  My friend owns 8 FDs, yes 8, and non of them run!  So he is paying me to get the 5 that have V8 swaps running for him.  My payment is a 1993 model with a 5.3 and T56 setup.  My goal was to buy my old 95 back after selling the 93 I get for payment.

Between 2012-Now I had a few other cars.  After getting a new job I bought a 2010 370Z Touring Sport.  Black on Black with all the bells and whistles.  It was a fun car to drive and looked great but didn't have that "I built this" feeling I needed.  After a horribly disappointing trip to the drag strip I cut my losses and sold the Z.   A few months later I bought a 1998 BMW Z3 M Roadster.  That car was a fun little go kart that I could work on.  I fixed it up pretty nice.  I was going to do an LS swap to it but the FD was always on my mind.

this summer I was just casually searching craigslist and came across a 95 LS swapped FD in North Carolina.  I reached out to the guy and gave him a low offer and he took it.  So I flew out and drove the car back.  I ended up selling my BMW for parts as the market wasn't what I needed for the whole car.  I am very happy to be back in an FD.  I still have to finish my buddies cars, get the 93 FD as payment and sell it.  I hope to have all that done before the end of 2018.

The current car is MB with black/tan interior.
It is missing the carpet currently but I have all the other interior pieces.
The paint is pretty shit (failed clear coat) and it has a white Fiber glass hood.
has SpeedHut gauges replacing all the stock gauges
Aeromotive fuel pump and in line filter

So far I have collected a few parts

OEM 99 Spec Spoiler
99 Spec front bumper and lights (Plate-less)
Ray's Gram Light 57 18x9.5 front 18x10.5 rear
Yokohama advan A048 295/30r18 tires for the rear

Welcome back, where in NC did you guy that FD?  Also your buddy should be on here too, I've never heard of someone owning 5 V8 swapped FDs!

I got my wheels on this week.  I also ordered some Coilovers as my wheel gaps are pretty insane.  I definitely need some wide fenders asap to make up for these wide ass wheels.

Ebay had a 15% off deal (max $100 off) going on yesterday so I ordered my coilovers and saved $100! [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

I installed my 99spec spoiler last night after finding out how easy they are to install.  It matches my white hood.  Car is almost in full Crayola mode now.

I like the hood from the side profile, looks aggressive without being crazy.

Only issue is the good low profile superchargers are rectangle port only.

...that LSA supercharger is massive O.O

I have seen those adapters.  They are pretty huge since they have an intercooler built in.  Im pretty sure it will fit under my hood though.  But its going to be a while before I am ready to install that.

I installed my KSport coilovers this weekend.  Makes a huge difference.  I still need to adjust the height some.  I have the prosport bushing kit I need to install also, so I will wait till I have time to take all the suspension off to install the bushings to adjust the coilovers.  The car is going to be parked all winter any way.   My car has a home made engine mounting kit on it and I am thinking about switching all of that to a Samburg kit.

There are small bore rectangle heads out there. Then you'll have to update the accessory spacing. You'll be gtg after that. :-)

I just took mine out of storage after over a year while I was in Korea. Drove it from Delaware to San Antonio with a stop at the tail off the dragon. 480rwhp, 24mpg and no breakdowns,... Love me some LS reliability and 400 miles on a tank.

I did run a 15.5:1 lean cruise though. :-p
