My shitbox was just tuned last Friday -- they took video
« on: July 10, 2018, 09:17:30 PM »
Just got my hooptie back from tuning, the engine shop rebuilt the LS2 with GMPP 88958770 ASA Road Race Cam, COMP beehive spring kit (26918TS-KIT), 5/16" diameter 7.400" length pushrods, LS9 lifters, LS2 lifter trays, Straub Technologies Trunion conversion kit, ARP head studs, ARP main studs, ARP rod bolts, ARP flywheel bolts, ARP pressure plate bolts, ARP crank bolt, ARP engine mount bolts, ARP oil pan bolts, ARP timing sprocket bolts, ARP timing cover bolts, ARP water pump bolts, etc. (collected over about 6 years...), Melling high volume / high-pressure oil pump, Improved Racing oil pan trap door baffle setup, thermostatic oil cooler block, oil pickup tube bracket, stock pistons, rods, crank, etc. The dyno shop, which is essentially same company, separate division across the street from engine shop took video and posted it today -- sorry I don't have a direct link and I'm not 100% sure how to embed the video.

I'm surprised it didn't make more power.  Is this with stock exhaust manifolds?

Seems to be down at least 50rwhp..... but the torque is looking good.

What did they rev it out to?

JTR long tubes - I was surprised too... seems down as hell but maybe thats the ASA cam? The mustang dyno I'm sure killed a shit load of power too.

You know Iím a fan! Mustang dyno is the difference. That looks about right, considering.

My LS1 with an ASA cam and stock 241 heads made 401/401 on a Dynojet. Your car is probably pretty quick. Thatís all that matters.

HP numbers can be so deceiving... Either way. Take it to the strip and you can basically work backwards from your trap speed to verify your HP numbers.

Doesn't anyone have their dynos calibrated?

If done correctly to SAE standards, there should be very little variation from one dyno to another, after correcting for air density.

Yeah not taking it to a drag strip... Need to take it to the road course -- it definitely feels faster.

Now to figure out why my fuel gauge, speedometer, and tachometer stopped working. They're getting power as verified by my multimeter, have no blown fuses, and I'm out of ideas besides digging into the actual wiring. You guys have any ideas?
