1981 LSD carrier in a 1980 housing
« on: January 28, 2018, 09:36:13 PM »
Hello to all I am new here and considering doing the 5.0 conversion into my 1980 gs leather edition that I just bought. I already have the motor and transmission. I want to add the LSD and am a little confused. Will or can the 1981 lsd carrier fit in the 1980 housing with the original drum brakes. I have read that it won't but can't find an explanation as to why. If I use the complete 1981 lsd rear will it have the same wheel bolt pattern? Are there oem parts to connect the e brake?

I would recommend to not even bother with the stock 1980 differential/housing/axles it's all far to weak to live long with V8 torque levels.
