I hated mobile atf in the trans. It was terrible when cold and only moderately better once warmed up. I switched to Amsoil torque-drive and have been very happy with it.  It might work well for you but just a forewarning if you do notice more grinding on up and downshifts.

Thanks for the heads up and feedback.  I did a lot of reading and there were so many different suggestions on this topic.  I ended up just calling Tremec and was told not to use anything but Mobil 1 ATF in the T56 Magnum directly from them.  I drove about 50-75 miles yesterday after all was completed and all seemed very normal, maybe even a slight improvement but we all know that we subconsciously believe everything is better with new lube, lol.  I will pay close attention in the future and if I experience anything negative Iíll report back for sure.

Mine is a rebuilt t-56 not a magnum so might not be apples to apples. And if thatís what they recommended, I would probably give it a try too.

Noted.  I do know that Mobil 1 ATF is what was already in it and I had nothing but smooth shifting the entire time.  I only changed it mainly as a just because I was already doing differential too so why not.  I actually feel like the transmission shifts better than ever now that it has some mileage on it.

I put redline D4 ATF in mine and the magnum is the best shifting trans I've ever used.  I had non-synthetic ATF in there for break-in.  Honestly I never noticed a break-in period, and I didn't notice any difference between the two fluids.

I've also an upgraded t-56. Redline D4 for normal temps. D6(little thinner) for cold weather.

I've tried just about every fluid out there and the D4 was the only one that was really nice. I still have one more to try. AC Delco Syncromesh.

Mobil 1 almost felt like the blocker rings didn't exist when cold.

I was feeling ambitious last night and wanted to fix a very small leak in the extension housing of the T-56. Took the exhaust off and the housing. Resealed everything.

Put in the ACDelco syncromesh.

Best trans feel yet. Even better than the Redline D4 ATF!!!

Awesome man, thanks for the feedback!  I have had nothing but smooth shifts myself as well.
