« on: July 03, 2015, 01:17:23 PM »
Well I turn 30 next year so me and the olé lady have decided to build again, i want more land with a detached shop. Finished this house in 2013, pretty much brand new and very well taken care of, if you know anyone in Texas .

What is the rental market like there? What would you guess this would rent for?

Thanks I really like it but I need to move closer to work.

LOF: I could get about 2k/month all day. If I didn't need money down I would rent it for sure.

Wow, seriously? What are the property taxes like? I have heard they are a lot in TX (compared to the 1% I pay in CA).

Yea I pay around 4k and change, moving to lake jackson I will be paying around $6500. We have new plants at Dow, Phillips, and Ineos  so there's a ton of contractors in the area, they like to roomates up. Ever since house prices and lease rates have skyrocketed.

Might have to do some research. Seems like a decent ROI..

With 50k down that is ~$900 profit a month.

Yeah its really my GF pushing the sale like crazy, she's like most women and doesn't think of the long term investment, just wants instant gratification. I'm leaning strongly in the other direction.

That's a nice place for $200k, a place like that in my neighbourhood would be closer to $750k.   Toronto is getting to expensive.

No doubt!  In Edmonton I'm guessing this would be a $600k house.  I can't even wrap my head around how cheap houses are in the States.  I also can't believe how much we pay here.  It's ridiculous!
