Check out the data sheet for a crydom SSR. They are pretty much the best ones you can get. 40C is ideal. 80C is reduced mean time between failure. -40C-100C are the normal operating limits.

You could mount it in the headlight bucket are anywhere that gets fresh air really.

Hmmm, well I really don't want to rewire it again so I may look at ducting some air from under the rad

This job has been on my list for ages. I finally got around to making some shrouding for the rad/intake.

Taking on board what Exidous mentioned about the temps of the ssr's, I have moved them to the drivers side shroud panel so that it gets hit with cold air. Of course this meant changing the wiring yet again.

I ran out of ali so I couldn't make the shroud for the lower edge. I should get that done this week.

I fired the car up, but it was getting late so didn't get it up to temp to make sure the fans came on (and pulled, not pushed) but i'm confident it will work.

Took the car out for about 45miles today.

Drivetrain is now noise free.

Fans worked. Cruising temp.was about 175 it got up to 212 when I was manouvering into the garage.

The big thing that is letting the car down is the tune. It just wants to stall everytime I dip the clutch. It's making it very hard work to drive as I am having to try and heal to toe all the time.

It was tuned on one of the hottest days of the year so i.mifht have to go back to the tuner if he can't sort it out from my logs.

I spent ages ripping the center console apart to try and find out why the illumination wasn't working. I had the whole thing apart down to pulling the circuit board out.

Then it dawned on me.... I unplugged the dimmer switch. Plugged that back in and it worked  :banghead:

hah sometimes shit like that happens.  At least you figured it out and it was an easy fix.    My first FD build I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get the heat to work.  The car didn't have a rear wiper so i never put a fuse in the spot for the rear wiper.  Turns out the rear wiper fuse is also the heater fuse.  Who would have guessed that one?!

No idea on the stalling though.

Great progress!  I love hate those little annoying fixes!!

If you have a holley tune there is a guy on this board offering to help people, are you doing it yourself?  The stalling could be so many things I have learned.  I'm not familiar with what and how Holley tunes work.  I could share all my HPTuners stuff I have learned but its probably irrelevant.

I got it road tuned by a chap here but he specialises in hp tuners and hadn't used holley before. There will be lots of things that weren't looked at such as decel fuel cutoff.

The tune has been made open loop too so the learn is disabled

Driving cold needs sorting too.

I have setup an injector end angle table but not loaded it yet.

I don't really know what I am doing tbh, but I can follow instructions  :) I also want to setup the knick sensors as they aren't calibrated. Along with that he seamed to think that the bucking was because if the cam and I'm not 100% convinced with that as it's not that aggressive and plenty of people appear to have no. Ucking in that cam.

I have use the holley tuner chap before, years ago. He sorted my idle.

In the matter if stupid fixes, I did something else. I didn't mention it before as I was embarrassed. I changed my plugs and forgot to plug in 4 if the ignition leads. The bad thing is I didn't notice until I realised my CTS was unplugged ...the shame...

What are the cam specs again? Unless it's more than 6-10 overlap you should be able to get it smooth. I'm at -2 and very smooth. Better ci eats cam overlap a bit more though. My LS1 with -2 was also smooth. It's all in the timing and fuel transitions between cells.

Some folks like really smooth tables but sometimes an engine just wants something different than the adjacent cell due to air flow harmonics or who knows what. It shouldn't be saw tooth but not oklahoma plains either. This is all the light load area. Up top should be smooth.

Sorry, doesn't show on mobile. 4.5 of overlap should be able to be surge free.

Finished the shroud at last.

I also fitted some led bulbs. They were a bit of an impulse buy.

Hoping to get the undertray finished tomorrow. It will feel good to finally have that all done.

Thanks chaps. I am getting better at this hand fabrication. It's not easy with only a workmate, aluminium angle and a lump hammer.

Went for a drive to rack up some miles in the diff. Seams ok except there is quit a bit if vibration at 75-80mph mark ( not been faster yet).

I can feel it through the wheel and base of my back. Not sure if it's a pinion angle issue? I hadn't noticed it before but maybe it was masked by the diff issue.

Oh, and my abs light is on again  :banghead:

I recorded some data logs and also tweaked the IAC values and appears to have helped with the stalling, bit not eliminated it. It's hard to know if it's the fuel table or IAC I need to tweak.
