Nice guy, I was emailinghim back in forth about his T5 bellhousing kit.   UntilI found outthat t5's don't like tshift above 6000 rpm.

Yeah but a lot of 4bangers rev to 8-9k easy so... it's a bit outside the range the t5 was designed for

Yep, I'll be shifting at a minimum of 7200...I was told a T56 can shift that high if you build it up.   But i'm not going to spend $2k on a trans.

Well little fun with plywood this week.   Worked out how to make the aluminum adapter plate without wasting expensive material.  Used metric T-nuts (arrows) so I can actually bolt the motor and trans together in the car to work out any other details and keep the project moving.

Here's the two bolted together.  Hopefully tomorrow I'll bolt the trans back into the car and then drop the engine in and see where to go next.

I'll eventually trim the wood to match the bellhousing and then use it as a pattern to use with carbide bit in a router on the actual AL plate.

Time for an update

Fabbed up the right and left engine mounts using some corvette style pedistile rubber mounts. Still need to finish weld them and grind them.

Engine as it sits

Plenum mocked up for clearance. Need to shorten the runners some more to gain TB clearance with the hood.

Oil Pan clearance. Since the stock pan is a front sump design I am going to have to fabricate a rear sump and pickup. Going to do it in steel first and them look at aluminum later.

Doing a clearance check with the hood, it looks like the engine cams will be popping through. So I either have to modify the stock Turbo hood scoop or put a cowl hood on her.

I was checking the driveshaft angles.   I set the engine up with 2 degree's down and my rear differential points up 3.5 degrees??   Does that seem correct for a TII rear diff or are the mount worn?   I don't see any adjustment to set pinion angle so anyone got any ideas here?

Got some work done.

Got the beginning of my 3" downpipe started. I need to pick up some more 3" pipe to run along side of the axle.

Finished cutting out the 3/16" flange for the rear sump oil pan. Need to start making the carboard template for the sheet metal and start on the new sump pickup.

Picked up a aluminum no-turbo (no scoop) RX7 hood so I can cut it up and see how much of a "bulge" it needs.  I might be able to graft a stock DSM hood bulge for a little steathier look.

Little update.  Been traveling alot for work but I got some work done.    Fabbed up a new relocated alternator mount to move the alterantor fron the normal passenger side t the driver side.    Got the beginning of the lower radiator pipe made and need to find a rubber hose to connect.

Buddy of mine let me borrow his Miller 175 and spool gun so I've been learned to weld aluminum for my radiator/intercooler mount.   Just need to finish the upper tie bars and get my CXRacing intercooler in next week to get some mounting tabs made.

Just bumping to see if you have made any progress, I'm very interested in your build as this spring I'm about to do a simmilar build.  Also did you use a wide block 4g63 or a narrow block?  I hear the wide block would bolt right to the bell housing you have, but I can get a narrow block for next to free (so an adapter plate will be in my future as well lol).
