Also the description and pictures on the Grannas site seems to indicate it comes with a shifter. That is nice, but i'll reserve judgement until I try it. I may end up reusing my existing shifter.

I thought the close ratio Magnum had a much taller first gear, as well as shorter fifth and sixth.

The wide ratio magnum has the shorter 1-3 (GTO and CTSV) and same 5th and 6th as the original F body
2.97, 2.10, 1.46, 1:1, .74, .5

The close ratio magnum as the same 1-3 as the original F body, and the shorter 5th and 6th (GTO & CTSV)
2.66, 1.78, 1.30, 1:1, .80, .63

Original LS1 F Body T56 ratios are
2.66, 1.78, 1.30, 1.00, .74, .5

The shorter 1,2, and 3 gears are not great for our cars. The shorter 5th and 6th are magical for our cars. You could get by with the taller 5th and 6th, but it is not offered with the close ratio 1-3.
So you want the close ratio/2.66 first gear setup.

The only bummer is the order of operations to install it in my FC, as we use a 2 piece transmission yoke with the 8.8 conversion to install the driveshaft.. and that 2 piece trans yoke is not available in a 31 spline output that I can see.

I may just pull the engine, I gotta figure it out.

Well, shoot.  To get any huge benefit from the Magnum swap in 1st-4th I'd have to swap my 3.73 gear to a 3.27.
:banghead:
The shorter 5th-6th would help my top gear from being way too tall though.

I have a TKO-600 with the roadrace gears in my Cobra and I love the ratios.
Has anyone swapped one of those into an FD?
That would probably give a good ratio spread, and would save probably 75 pounds or more of weight.  :bacon:
1995 FD, 7.0 Liter stroked LS3, T56, 8.8, Samberg kit.

What is in your car now and how much power do you make? Everyone under 550 WHP is gonna be be dialed with The F body or close ratio Magnum and 3.55 or 3.73s

Appreciate the thumbs up Kinger..... I agree it modernizes the car and simply rips!  The gearing truly is perfect.

......as stated there are a few ratios and IMO this is the only want you want: 2.66, 1.78, 1.30, 1:1, .80, .63

The .75/.50 version simply is too overdriven in 6th and 5th falls out of the powerband much more than .80 does.

Anything under 550-600rwhp n/a should run a 3.55 or 3.73 gear with a 80 to 100 treadwear tire with the above transmission.  We had no issues putting down 595rwhp 440ci n/a setup with 3.73 gears and 275/35/18 Nitto NT01 at the drag strip to run effortless low 10's.  Clearly a drag radial or slick would hook better... but for an all around tire it worked fine.
In my 1200rwhp LS9 turbo FD I run 3.31 gears and 26" tall tire with the 2.66/.80/.63 gearing and it is perfect.

Cobranut-
A TKO600 shifting quality compared to a T56 Magnum is not even in the same league.  Plus even modified TKO600's don't always shift well at high RPM.  For those that have driven both... the T56 Magnum is simply the best choice.  My road race LS7 FD with 520rwhp (10.30@138mph) ran a 3.73 gear and had no issues putting down the power on NT01's.

Update:  payments are rolling in and transmissions will be shipping out by next week.

I like the .74/.50, but I run 3.90 gears.

I had my 2.66 magnum built with .74/.50. Was a grip of extra money though.

Off the shelf, 2.66/.63 all day.

Looks like some people could potentially have these installed by the weekend :)

Only a handful of retailers in the entire country actually have these in stock.  Summit won't have them for 2 more months!!!!

Step up and make what we have been waiting on.... for over 3 years become a reality!

Dang I've only put like 200 miles on my T56 magnum since I did the swap a few years ago because I've been halfway around the world from my car. I should have waited for this!

Anyway, don't hesitate to order from Mark. Ordering couldn't be easier and cheaper, and the product speaks for itself.
