I get PM'd and lots of calls about running the new TR6060 from the 2010+ Camaro in LS swaps.  While you can get them for decent prices ($1500 or so).... they need a new shifter as the stock one is super sloppy ($500), a more expensive driveshaft due to the need for a front CV joint and a 3 finger to 6 bolt adapater to make that driveshaft work as the TR6060 doen't have a traditional yoke up front.  There is some interference with your exhaust due the factory temp sensor in it as well.  The biggest downside is that the gearing in them is meant for a heavy pig new Camaro (3800lbs) and isn't well suited to our lightweight RX-7 swaps (2800lbs approx).
The front bellhousing is also a one piece deal connected to the front bearing plate.  So to go to an SFI rated steel bellhousing is an expensive undertaking requiring custom work.

IMO they are not worth running and much more of a hassle to install overall.

I am on the fence with rebuilding my t56 or just going in on the magnum. It will be a street car and see the 1/4 often, and as of lately I have been really interested in getting it onto a track. Ultimately I am looking at putting down 700whp not sure where I will be sitting with the torque though, mid 600's?

Is there a new housing from tremec that would make the swap a little easier.

The Magnum can handle the power... and the shifting quality has no comparison to the pre 2008 T56's and especially the pre 2003 units.

Save your $, sell your current trans, and buy a Magnum.  They are the sh*t.
While your current trans in a lightweight RX-7 can handle the power... it simply doesn't shift as nice as a Magnum.

We have put 1000rwhp+ thru them.  They are better in every way.  Read my review on page 1.

I have been informed that the T56 Magnum will go up by $100 in price starting sometime in January 2016.
New price is $3095.....  It hasn't gone into effect... so if you are on the fence.... maybe time to make a decision.

It's been a long time since the original posts about the shifter location issues. Has there been any definitive solution for this? In the last set of pictures I saw it looked like the shifter could still need to be about another inch back to be in the right position with the tremec shifter. Maybe its just fue to the console and everything not being there in the picture.

I am weighing the options between rebuilding my t56 or selling it for a magnum. I understand it's better but was wondering if a better solution for the shifter has been found.

4 solutions for setting the shifter further back
1) Sikky billet shifter $500
2) Red's version $300 approx
3) I modify the stock 6 bolt shifter that comes with the Magnum for the proper setback for $150
4) You modify the shifter yourself with $10 worth of parts I sell (cutoff wheel, drill press, MIG welder, 1.5 hrs).

The Magnum is worth the $.  The shifting smoothness is ridiculously nice.  Plus it will hold more power, have better resale, parts aren't on back order or made in Taiwan since Tremec is not supporting the older units with some parts production.... when they do the back orders are fulfilled and then parts go on back order again.

Sell your trans, recoup some $, and have a modern transmission that doesn't shift like a dump truck.

You can always sell your existing parts to recoup some $

Make sure that your slave cylinder hasn't failed.  Also bleed out the fluid and fully flush it.  Wrap the clutch line in some heat sleeve and route away from headers.  Your issue sounds hydraulic.

You can run a Samberg trans mount to make it work and obviously the rear diff mount as well.

i am assuming this is on an FD so I want to suggest you check the pedal bushing located where the clevis pin goes through the pedal. With what you describe and all you have tried I am thinking the bushing is shot and the pedal now has an egg shaped hole where the pin goes through.

As much as I love the Magnum transmission, it will not work properly if the pedal is screwed up.

you were right on the $$$ i have a egg for a hole now... it was just metal vs metal

i was reading on the forum apparently people weld a load bearing onto the pedal.. to fix this.

i cant seem to find the replacement clutch pedal at mazda or used on the forum.

did you ran into the same problem before?

thank you!! im having trouble removing the Pin that goes into the c clip, i removed the locking ring.. try to hit it out but its not budging!!! grrr

progress has been slow as i had to remove my entire interior to trace some short on my car, after many more broken tabs and epoxying them back again... i finally put the interior back together...  i swear one day im just going to cage the entire car and run a aim switches and fuck all the damn plastic on this car.

btw the TR6060 tranmission shift sooooo butter smooth!!!! i have it on my other fd and its like butter... just like Mark said.. driving the older t56 feels like stone age!! god when my motor goes  this is on my must do list !

Prices for 2018 have increased from Tremec.  Rumor may become reality.... the Fbody style offset Magnum should be available by late spring/early summer.  This allows you to run your existing driveshaft without shortening it (replace yoke for 31 spline unit), the supplied shifter remains in same place as '98-02 Fbody so no real mods needed aside from a potential small setback stick.

Please email me for current pricing:  norcalmotorsport@gmail.com

Revised info:

4 solutions for setting the shifter further back on standard Magnum
1) Sikky billet shifter $500
2) American Powertrain White Lightning $335 approx
3) I modify the stock 6 bolt shifter that comes with the Magnum for the proper setback for $150
4) You modify the shifter yourself with $10 worth of properly measured parts I sell and basic instructions (cutoff wheel, drill press, MIG welder, 1.5 hrs voila.... magically you have saved yourself $300+).
