I ended up going with a Pioneer AVH-2300NEX. It served my purpose of having Bluetooth/CarPlay connectivity and decent specs. The 7 interior is such a subpar soundstage that there really isnt a middle ground. Either you are ok with meh sound or you spend a ton to create it.

Havent started the car yet so I dont know about the reliability of everything yet as far as seeping or leaks. These are the two parts that I ended up using for the steering rack. They both came with crush washers to use. I can confirm that the rack is a 12 x 1.5 bolt

Russell Performance R40516C - 12mm x 1.5 Bolt
Russell Performance 640910 - 12mm Banjo to 6AN

Honestly, for the price you would spend for the fenders themselves and the body work associated with it, a shop could probably fab up some metal flares and weld them in (maybe a tad bit more). This would give you the look you are going for, lines that match the body, and the durability of something other than fiberglass.

Let me know if you find a combination that works and I'll be glad to update the original post.

Yep, I am hoping some combination of what I ordered will work out.

Ok, I am have my power steering line made and am about to get everything on.

First impressions - Do NOT use the unisteer piece listed on the first page. It is designed specifically for the bolt it comes with and anything smaller means that all that is holding the pressure in is the smaller bolt and the washers.

I also am getting conflicting information as to whether it is a 1.25 or 1.5 thread for the rack. These are the parts I am ordering now to see what works

Earl's Performance 997591ERL - 12mm x 1.25 Bolt
Russell Performance R40516C - 12mm x 1.5 Bolt
Russell Performance 640910 - 12mm Banjo to 6AN

BTW - Atkins Rotary can suck it. I ordered the original banjo bolt from them and they sent me the one for the pump, not the rack.

Electronics / Re: Tracing Back Horn Wire (FD)
« on: January 31, 2017, 11:07:56 AM »
So I am finally getting around to trying to get the horns wired up. I got to the fuse box under the kick panel. The only blue connector I found with a green/orange wire is the one pictured. Does anyone know if this would be appropriate to tap for the connection going to the horn on the steering wheel?

Also, does anyone know if there is a connection plate that someone makes for the contact to the back of the Momo hub?

Electronics / Need help with figuring out connectors... stumped
« on: January 29, 2017, 11:18:02 AM »
Little bit of history so you know how this came to be. Around November I bought a 1993 RX-7 that had already been swapped to a Gen III 4.8 TT build. Im not a straight line guy so I wanted to put in an NA motor instead. I opted to build a LS3 for the car instead.

So, with that being said, I decided to not rip out the already modified Gen III harness in the car and opt for doing the conversion instead.

I got the following
Boosted Solutions 24" MAP sensor adapter
Lingenfelter TRG-002 Crank Adapter
Speartech Knock Sensor Adapters
Speartech Injector Adapters

I am getting to the point where the engine is almost done and ready to fire so I decided to get all of the sensors hooked up. I threaded the TRG through the firewall and started to align everything annnnnnd, they dont all connect. I looked up the wire color codes for the connectors and it just seems off

I have 3 3-wire connectors

From what I see on the wiring diagram, these should be the colors for the connectors.

Crank - BLU/WHT - YLW/BLK - LT GRN
Cam - PNK/BLK - BRN/WHT - RED
MAP - GRY - LT GRN - ORN/BLK

The one I think Im having issues with is the Cam sensor as I 'think' its the one with the red wire pictured but it wont plug into the CAM OUT cable on the TRG. The Crank and MAP seem to have the same keys and I can plug those in fine so I am pretty sure I have those identified. What I cant tell is if it is an issue with the Lingenfelter or the engine harness. They key for the one with the RED wire looks to be correct but its not lining up with the supposedly correct plug on the Lingenfelter box.

I think you are going to run into a mix of people no matter where you go. If this was the backwoods then, yeah, you probably will have a lot of closed minded people. I would expect Augusta to have a good mix of people and some open minded groups/churches that you can be a part of. I think long gone are the days of really isolated large pockets of the country. People are just too mobile.

I will check on it tonight to see what the wiring looks like and report back.

Electronics / Annnnnd another headlight issue (FD)
« on: January 18, 2017, 06:28:23 PM »
I tried searching for this particular problem with no luck

Symptoms
- If I turn the headlights on, nothing happens. They dont pop up.
- If I hit the manual button, the headlights go up but automatically go back down

I am about to check wiring but need to know where to start. I bought the 75% done and the previous owner had done a wire tuck on it so I have to find where all the relays went to (thus asking the question first)

Cheers,
Mav

Its been way too long for me to speak to the culture of GA.

I would think that the area is like almost any not major city in that you have a lot of the more modern/moderate folks located in and around the city and that it gets a bit more banjo'ish the more you delve into the backwoods. I lived in Macon in the 80's and found that, even then, there were a decent amount of progressive people around. The closer you are to any of the colleges, the more diversity and interesting stuff you will find.

Would your company be willing to fly you (and your wife) out for a long weekend to look at the area? Id imagine they would like to keep you so its a small price to pay.

Lived in GA for 6 years of my childhood so Im probably a bit out of date with a lot of things. GA is a pretty decent place to live but its going to be humid as hell in the summers. You will also have to deal with hurricanes. On the plus side, cars are much easier to deal with (regulation wise), they have the GA Half Mile Shootout, and you have a lot of cool stuff to go see (Charleston/Savannah/Hilton Head/etc).
