To clarify - I have the full samberg/ronin mount setup but grabbed the sikky headers to finish it. Drivers side fit perfectly but the passenger side collector runs into the rear lower control arm mount by a solid 1/2"

The front-end damage was going to drive me crazy until I fixed it (I broke the number one rule of engine swapping... clean shells only!)



The offending piece of metal was the drivers side headlight bracket/upper load path. It was pushed in and bent, causing the fender to sit a solid ~5mm under the edge of the hood. Thankfully the metal in question was readily available from OE parts suppliers.
After some liquid courage I broke out the spot-weld cutter and cutting wheel and went to town!



And voila! One removed headlight bracket! That upper load path (lower side of image below) was also pivoted inward. Heat and a big hammer fixed that!



I cleaned things and and tossed in the new metal. Fit in very nicely to the frame rail and radiator support. You can see below where the upper load path and the new headlight bracket still had their disagreement. The grease pen arrow points to where the metal pivoted about a spot weld.



At this point I opted to secure the new bracket with fasteners instead of plug welds. Just had to make sure to use locking threads and enough of them to prevent paint rubbing and corrosion. The hood and fender finally have a gap again!

First order of business was to pull out the front-end electrical guts and investigate.



There turned out to be several cut wires from the trauma she experienced in a previous life. I wasn't sure what wires were what yet - but the whole thing had to come down to bare wires and connectors. I also planned to remove all the powertrain related wires and connectors to significantly clean things up



I placed the wiring aside for winter work and turned to the front-end metal

After the better part of a year sitting at my family home, occasionally being tinkered on, I finally obtained my own home with a two car garage! So off Rio went on a trailer to Detroit where the serious work could begin!



With the car now tucked away in the garage I am ready to get this car ripped apart and LS-swapped!

Alright, so back to the beginning.

After getting the car into the garage the first step was to strip it down and assess the vehicle. I found some.... slight damage. The headlight bracket had been pushed in from a previous collision and pushed in the outer fender attachment with it. At that point I decided to move on with the project and repair the damage.



Since I was aware most of the interior was messed up from 136k miles of shitty owner, I started removing everything and making way to pull up the carpet. The plan was to go full sheet-metal interior and retain the shock dash bar



Found a pleasant surprise while pulling up the carpet, 99% sure that is a broken crack pipe! I knew this car had a shady history and this pretty much cemented it for me



Got out the dash and began pulling out the HVAC. It was pretty evident that all of this was taken out already and just loose assembled (fasteners missing/hand tight)

   

Race car mode achieved!

Now I need to work on the ruined transmission that "worked great last time it was driven" (2nd gear is nonexistent)

Suspension/Brakes/Wheels / FD Brake Hardline Sizes?

Hey all,

I'm running new brakes lines and a proportioning valve in an FD, and I'm having trouble finding information on the size of the various hardlines. Is it 3/16" double/inverted flare all around, or is there 1/4" as well?
