Electronics / Has anyone used a GPS speedometer sensor for the FD?
« on: February 24, 2020, 07:33:57 PM »
Has anyone used something like this before: https://www.amazon.com/Auto-Meter-5289-Speedometer-Interface/dp/B0077A6B86/ref=asc_df_B0077A6B86/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312157681632&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15826123227761710676&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014327&hvtargid=pla-634564318277&psc=1#ace-g8881249860

I think my DD is jacked up because all it does is cause the speedo to bounce from 0-40 mph (entire cluster has been rebuilt). I was thinking of trying one of these out and not having to mess with the dip switches.

Hi All,

I'm having an issue with getting my speedometer to work on my 1993 FD. I'm using the EAT PEZ harness (see below) with a Dakota Digital converter box. I'm using a 2000 Camaro SS ECU and I have the stock 4.10 rear.

I set it up per Mattster03's guide: https://www.norotors.com/index.php?topic=192.0

I set it to the following settings:
DIP 1,2: OFF
DIP 3,4: ON
11 coarse, 15 fine
POWER: red Wire
GROUND: black wire
INPUT: grey wire
OUT3: green wire

I went out for a short drive up to ~35 mph and the speedo didn't budge at all. I decided that maybe the input/output wires were crossed, so I shut the car off and flipped the wires to this setup:

POWER: red Wire
GROUND: black wire
INPUT: green wire
OUT3: grey wire

I turned the car on and the speedo fluctuated between 5-30 mph for ~10 seconds, then it stopped. Mind you, the car was sitting still. I began driving, thinking I got it working. I then went to ~20-30 mph, but the speedo didn't budge at all. Odd, huh?

I've tried two known good gauge clusters (one Mazdaspeed and one OE that had been repaired by Zepco). All other gauges are reading correctly, including the tachometer.

I'm out of ideas of what to try next. What would you guys suggest? Thanks in advance!

It appears my Samberg intake is rubbing against the hood support bracing (see below).

Before I go willy-nilly with cutting the hood support, I went and searched for pictures of people's hoods with the cut. Unfortunately, my Google-Fu is not as strong as I thought it would be. :banghead:

Would someone kindly post a picture of their "cut" hoods? Thanks in advance!

General Tech / MGW shifter owners -- which lever did you go with? (FD3S)
« on: February 28, 2017, 01:29:37 PM »
I ordered the Fbody MGW shifter (with a 12mm threaded lever) for my T56 out of a 2000 Camaro SS, but looks like they're on backorder for a bit. While I was waiting, I read that some people are using the bent Steeda TriAx-like handle for better ergonomics.

For those of you who are using a T56 and the MGW shifter, what handle did you use and how are you liking it? Ideally, I'd like something that I don't have to reach really far to shift. Thanks guys!

What shifter boot did you guys use with the Hinson Transmission Tunnel Cover? I'm using the stock T56 shifter with the Steeda Tri-Ax shifter lever.

Thanks in advance, guys!

General Tech / How to make my fuel feed line safer?
« on: August 05, 2016, 03:29:50 PM »
So my current setup is the following:
OE FD 5/16" hardline >> 5/16" 50 PSI rated rubber fuel hose >> 5/16" to 3/8" adapter (got the wrong AN fitting) >> 3/8" 50 PSI rated rubber fuel hose >> 3/8" to -6AN adapter >> OE LS1 fuel rail

I'm using a Walboro 255lph pump and a C5 filter/FPR. The rubber hoses mentioned above appear to be balooning. I found that the hoses are probably balooning due to the fact that the fuel pressure is exceeding the rate 50PSI.

I'm not very familiar with AN fittings, as my old rotary FD used to just use plain FI hose. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make this system simpler/safer? Links to parts would be much appreciated. Should I simply just get a 5/16" to -6an fitting and replace all the hoses with higher rated PSI FI 5/16" rubber hose? Thanks in advance for the help, guys.

Electronics / Gauge wiring help needed (Eat-Pez harness-LS1 FD)
« on: July 17, 2016, 11:43:53 PM »
Hi everyone! The car is running and doesn't have any CELs (yay? :yay:). So, that part is good. The bad part is that I haven't touched the car in years and it appears Eat-Pez is MIA, so I do not have support on the exact harness that I have. I simply cannot find the wires to hookup the tachometer and speedometer. I have the 12V and ground hooked up to the Dakota Digital, but I cannot find the other wires.

Can anyone give me some tips of how I can trace those wires down that I need to hook up these two gauges? Please bear in mind that I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to wiring. Thanks in advance for anyone's help!

Which Optima battery do I use with the Hinson Battery Relocation Kit? It's the one that relocates it to the bins. I tried to call Hinson several times to find out, but they never called back.  :banghead:

Thanks in advance for any help!

Electronics / Please help me with my "EAT PEZ" wiring harness
« on: January 23, 2016, 09:47:38 PM »
Hello all. I have started working on my swap again after leaving it alone for many years. Unfortunately, it's been so long and some things have changed. As a result, I cannot figure some of the wiring out. I was hoping someone here could help me out.

The harness was modified by Eat-Pez over 5-6 years ago, but I cannot seem to locate him anymore.

1. Call me stupid, but I believe these are the 4 wires needed to hook up the Dakota Digital?

2. I'm using the Samberg intake/radiator/fan kit, which is composed of two fans. I can only locate one wire for the fan. I'm a bit lost, as a result.

3. What is that blue w/ silver wire? It appears it's a ground as there are other ground wires coming into it. Is it a ground? Also, what is that yellow/blue wire with the butt connector for?

4. What is this for? It appears to be already wired up.

5. This one is in the engine bay. Is it for coolant temp? If so, where do I wire it to?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide. We're so close in getting this swap fired up!

Drivetrain / What are my radiator/AC options?
« on: June 20, 2015, 03:44:29 PM »
As it currently stands, I have a FD PWR radiator/fan along with a modified stock AC condenser that has lines which mates to the LS1 a/c pump. I modified the stock radiator mounts to sit lower/angle less, but it seems that it's still uncomfortably close to the crank pulley. Also, the hose location is undesirable.

I'm looking to ditch the FD PWR radiator setup. The Samberg kit is nice, but the GB status is unknown. I was looking at the Hinson Premium Radiator kit, but I don't know if it will be compatible with my current AC setup. Any input would be appreciated!

General Tech / How did you guys get your long tube headers in?
« on: March 31, 2013, 09:21:01 PM »
I just bought a set of JTR long tube headers. The website said that I need to jack my car up 20" from the wheel (didn't specify which part of the wheel though). I have a large jack, which I was able to jack the car up to ~23.5" from the centerline of the wheel hub.

I need to jack it up further. How did you guys safely jack up your car that high to fit the header? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I wish to go with longtubes. Can I go with a JTR longtube header setup, or will I have to run the Hinson kit? Also, with either option, is there a y-pipe that will mate up with the longtube headers and stock-fit FD catback? Thanks in advance for your replies.
