Drivetrain / Independent Suspension Rear Dif Options
« on: April 11, 2023, 07:34:16 PM »
So, my stock Mazda rear end is slowing dying. I obviously need to replace it. I don't want to do the Ford swap. I don't want a solid rear axle. Years ago I was looking at the Katz 1.5, but I haven't found anyone that sells them right now. Any ideas on that?

Other options come to mind? I found one shop that sella Cusco, but I don't know much about that unit.

I'm curious to see what you guys are running. Any insight would be appreciated. This is the one part on the car I've never had to mess with. I'm thinking I'll have to get axle's to go with it? I feel like that was a thing when I thought about doing this years ago. I've since forgotten. Old age..

       Thanks!

Suspension/Brakes/Wheels / FD Colilover Opinions
« on: April 08, 2023, 11:43:10 AM »
   Hi,

My suspension is tired. I don't have a coilover setup right now, but I am probably going to move forward with one as it seems like what everyone is doing. I'm curious to see what people are running and their thoughts on them. Favorite brands etc.

       Thanks!

Drivetrain / The dreaded clutch not disengaging issue
« on: April 14, 2021, 01:25:51 PM »
     Hey,

I've done some searching, both on here and online in general, and a lot of the threads on here seem to be many years old. I have a couple of questions, as well as I wanted to see if there was any new info out there. I have an LS1 out of a GTO, and it's it's a Hinson car. The clutch sticks in gear after driving a while. I think this is a heat thing, as the transmission gets hot pretty quickly. I'm thinking that is from my long tubes just being too close. Has anyone had problems with heat causing these type of things? I literally feel like i'm cooking the fluid. I also may do a slave cylinder at some point, but not until I get this thing running cooler.

Side Note: I found out that the car was running lean, so I corrected that, and it does run cooler, but still not cool enough. So while that was part of the issue, it obviously wasn't all of it.

My question is, does anyone on here run shorty headers on an FD, and if so, do they create some more clearance as opposed to the long tubes?  I've heat wrapped what I can and it's still happening, so I need to create some space and/or maybe fab a heat shield. Or, has anyone had their exhaust heat the transmission enough to cause the slave to fail?

Any input, or experiences in this will be helpful.

                     Thanks.

New Members/Introductions / Hi everyone
« on: January 10, 2021, 12:53:41 PM »
Hi,

I'm James. I'm a masshole. I have a 93 RX7 that i've had since 98', and went V8 sometime in 08'. Car currently has a 5.7 LS1 (GTO) motor in it. It's been in the car long enough that i'm starting to have normal issues that i've never had on a V8 car, so i'm here to learn and see what I want to do going forward.
