Lol, yeah.  You know they can be installed 'sideways' too?!  SO many ways to fuck up!

Put mine in the hole where the prop rod catch goes.  You can mirror the opposite side without difficulty and move the catch if you need to.

Hey, I put mine in the same place. I guess Great minds get frijolee to install his hood pins :D

The moment of No going back:

And Final install pic:

I always thought these were milled aluminum until I physically got mine. So I was a little disappointed in the plastic but mine do work great.  For what its worth, I've had mine since Feb. 5th 2011, never lubed them since install and they still work great.

Yes, definitely can remove the stock hood latch when installing pins.  That's the whole point.

Or when switching to a lighter hood like CF or Fiberglass. I had a buddy who put a CF hood on his Eclipse and left it with only the stock latch. Latch failed and it flew up. Since the eclipses have those bubble hoods it left a big round smash in the windshield folded and dented up the roof.  He said it happened so fast he thought something fell onto the windshield. lol.  When I put on my CF hood on the FC and had only the stock latch, I could see the hood flexing a little at highway speeds. Made me think of my buddy. But when I put on the aero latches. It solidified the hood at highway speeds due to 5 solid mounting/latching points. I say unless you need the weight savings or doing something custom custom, why not keep the stock latch too.

We use these as well. You guys realize they use these latches for carbon hatches as well. There is no incorrect installation, arrow pointing down or up.

We've got some pretty amazing pricing on Aerocatch stuff if you guys need to order.  Cheap shipping (like $6) via USPS to the lower 48 and ultra cheap for locals!

I use three of these on our track cars as we have noticed some hood lift at high speed in the middle of the hood without a center latch. They are great for rear hatch as well.

I own you guys!  I didn't like the backwards installation either, due to potential for one to blow open at hight speed, if the safety latch opened somehow.  Plus, who else has a car who you can play pin ball on?

i accidentally bought the embedded ones..  would have prefered standard but whatever.  also mounted wrong like Kevin.
I actually dremel'd off some plastic to get the pin to clear due to the angle of the hood  :yay:

I think the pins are in the same place as Frijolee's?  I ran them sideways because of my redonkulous vents.

I also mounted mine sideways. I wanted them in the middle at first but I cut the center radiator section so I couldn't mount them there.

Given the lack of a radiator support, I have two options for my Aerocatch hood pins: right behind the headlights as pictured above, or near the front bumper on the factory overflow tank mount. I suspect that the angle is too harsh at the overflow tank but would it make sense to angle the pins so they're within spec? It would definitely look better at the front of the hood.

Here's what I have to work with:
