For trade 1987 Starion, 302 with hx52 turbo

Well, I'm thinking of letting this go in trade for something else. If you want to buy, make an offer as I'd rather trade but sometimes cash talks.

1987 Chrylser Conquest/Mitsubishi Starion
302 HO with forged TRW-VR Pistons
DO0E heads heavilt worked
gt40 (explo) intake
holset hx52
c6 trans

Alot more considering everything for the car had to be custom lol

Alot of time and money has been sunk into the car.

The local track closed last year so it's not been to a track. I haven't had it dyno'd but the combo has been proven for 600+whp. Right i'd guess it's somewhere around 450 hp, it's only at 10 psi and the timing is way conservative.

If I get rid of the car it comes with a toploader/srod hybrid manual conversion, a water to air intercooler and everything needed for power steering

Car is super reliable, fired right up in the 2 degree weather this winter. It's set up to be more of a daily right now. Not too much and a factory stall.

With a stall and some more fuel/boost it's probably heading for the high 10's low 11's with a moderate driver. With a good driver who knows?

A stock block build is 600whp+ capable?  I thought those blocks like to be in two pieces?

right above 600 whp+ about 650 is where you start to see cracks in the valley, especially dependent on your a/f and violence of the combustion. Personally, I've seen alot of 5.0 ho's hold 600+ stock block, I've seen 450 hp split the block.... A lot more factors than a "I heard" or "I thought"  in determining a safe power level. Every engine has it's misconceptions and truths

They do. I've done it.  I can tell you people are all optimistic about what they can do IF it's never happened to their own car.  I can also tell you it will piss you off something fierce to pay a couple hundred dollar tow bill because your car did it at the dragstrip and you were dumb enough to drive it there instead of putting it on a trailer lol.  I have a couple 2 piece 5 liter blocks in the junkpile... One did it and never even made 500 to the wheels, never rattled, had safe timing and a good tune, etc.  It's just a crapshoot.  No braces, girdles, or anything else will stop it either, they just hold the broken shit together so you can take it out and haul it to the dumpster in one piece.  If you could even MAKE 600 to the wheels with ported stock heads on a non intercooled stock block 5.0, you sure wouldn't do it for long.  It really is a shame because they are such great engines otherwise, but to build a good one you need a Ford Racing or aftermarket block.

Here's a cool page Trent put together that will show you a few:

OP, cool car.  I always liked Starions, and I also have a SBF in my RX7.  Good luck with your sale.

unless you own a turbo ls9 rx7 you do not know what the fuck you are talking about.

Thats why I feel I'm pretty safe at the 450 mark. If I need more power I'll go to a 351 and stroke it. It's not meant to be a drap car, it could be with very little, but I don't have a track anymore so no real point in making it a drag car. It's fun and you won't see another one like it. I have an 88 AE with an ls1/t56 and I like this better. Nobody knows what it is and as far as they know it came from the factory like this lol. I hear you about the crap shoot, I've seen great success with cryo'd stock blocks which could be an option for you if you wanted a cheaper alternative to a FMB. I think next 7 will be a stroked 351. This car was going to be for my wife but since we've had a newborn, she has no real interest in it.

Does the car have heat or powersteering? What did you  want for it outright.

has heat and has the powersteering sitting next to it, just haven't gotten around to putting it in, all I need is lines made and it's a drop in set up, I've been waiting on putting the steering wheel on until I get the power steering hooked up, the new steering wheel is smaller. I am asking 7500 obo
