Now here is the amazing one.

Piston - Piston to Bore Clearance - Production  -0.022-0.08 mm  -0.0009-0.0012 in

Factory pistons can be an interference fit in the cylinder bore!  Don't follow this spec if you're putting in forged pistons ;)

How would one go about measuring negative clearances, how would one go about installing those pistons, and why do forged pistons change that?

Its got to do with the silica content of the piston. More silica means less growth when it heats up. Most forged pistons are low or no silica. They grow quite a bit. When the stock engine with a negative clearance heats up it will have a small amount of clearance because the aluminum blocks grow a lot while the cast poison stays nearly the same.

To measure the clearance you would do the same as usual. Mic the piston and use a dial bore gauge in the cylinder bore. If the poison is larger than the bore then you have a negative clearance.

The stock skirt coating is very soft. Its also only a press fit at the tightest point on the skirt. In other words, jam it in :)
