LS1 vs Rotary weight
« on: October 06, 2012, 09:22:09 PM »
So a while ago i got a 91 fc completely unmolested. I pulled the NA rotary, auto trans, subframe, front suspension, and brakes. I already had my LS1/T56 on an S4 subframe with front suspension and brakes. I have heard many approximations on how much one weights vs the other, but i figured this would be the first real numbers of any sort that i have seen. For those of you who know me the old blue car is gone and I'm slowly working on the new one.

So the weight
LS1  826
Rotary 712
so the LS1 with ps is 115 pound heavier than the rotary with ps a/c and the stock air compressor for emissions.

Not a bad deal. With all that weight up front you can afford a subwoofer enclosure in the back :-)

Yes a turbo would probably weigh more, but this is the only motor i had to compare weight. The turbo motor motor i had in 05 probably weighed less because it only had an alt. It was a highly modified and mostly not in a good way. Which is why it didn't last. I believe the fd twin turbo should weigh the most but i don't have one to weigh.

I'm sure it's been done and mentioned but I haven't looked. What is a more accurate of the weight of an LS1 vs a 13B?
