MyBoyBlue's turbo LS2 build
« on: April 07, 2012, 05:51:43 PM »
So, I got a nice delivery from a friendly gentleman with a flatbed truck today:

This is MyBoyBlue/TaGi's car.   It's an LS2/T56 FD which had BeasTT's original turbo kit on it.    I'm not happy with the fitment of this kit (I never was and I built it) so it's been taken off, and the turbos are up for sale (will have details soon) but the gates and some other pieces will be repurposed and it will be reconfigured with a 76mm range single turbo and a layout very similar to my car.

Here's where we're at so far:

I'll be posting more pics as I go.   Hoping to have the radiator mounts built tomorrow so that it's locked in place.    I'll be building the turbo kit around the cooling system.   I am currently intending this car to have a low mount alternator and power steering.   :)

I like how you routed the piping for the water to air intercooler in the passenger footwell.   :yay:

Lower radiator mounts are built.   Radiator is installed in proper position.   I do need to redirect one of the outlets on the radiator (I'm building something sneaky to keep good clearance on the lower radiator hose ;) ).

I'm still digging through the parts for this car.   Lots and lots to do.   I will be starting on the engine and bay wiring while I wait for components for the turbo setup.   I'm not going to be doing a full on tuck/relocation to the rear bin on this car, but I will be cleaning up the engine bay wiring a great deal and hiding most of it.  :)

Made some good progress on the front wiring harness.   I still need to get the dash out to start finishing up the front harness and  begin getting the engine harness in place.

I would have gotten more done, but the hood fell and whacked me in the head and left a big laceration in the top of my head, which slowed me down a bit, hah.

I'll get some pics soon, once my head stops throbbing, LOL.

I am working on mine too.   I need the front mount timing wheel and stuff for it before I can get it running again.

Shit you're fast.

Once I get the car back home it will get a full custom interior/dash/stereo. Will be putting in STATUS carbon fiber seats with a welded in roll bar. Will get a set of SSR SP1's put on instead of the ugly 19" Axis that are on there now.
The paint is the same from the 2010+ Nissan GTR's; a pearl white. There are some chipping and cracks already in the paint but it had some body work done as well so its better then it was when I bought the car. I might end up wrapping it in something crazy next winter.

The car will be built for everything. Show car, track car, street car, and escape from reality.

I plugged the unneeded holes in the firewall, relocated the heater core lines and got the dash put back in today.    Still have a bit more interior wiring to do, and get the primary lead to the starter/alternator/fuse box done.   Going to try and get the rest of the interior wiring finished up and the primary lead put in tomorrow.

Then the engine/tranny come out, put the drain bung in the pan, new clutch, slave lead and drop that back in.   Then cooling system gets finished and the turbo kit gets built.   Then fuel system, rear end, suspension, brakes, yada yada.  ;)

Little short on time due to the little one tonight.

I did get a battery hooked up and fixed some chassis wiring issues (the car had a few problems in the harness).     Interior lights, headlights, taillights, brake lights, running lights, turn signals and windshield wipers are working.    I need HVAC controls to test those, but the blower motor relay works, so all should be good there.    It needs all new relays, the current ones are rusted up good.    I'll get those swapped shortly.

I also got power up and running to the ECU.   I will verify it communicates in the next day or two and finish up the interior wiring work.

Fuel system is mocked up (need some fittings and a fuel tank before I can finish it):

Mock up of cooling system.   This will not use the flex hose, but will have a stainless bend in it's place and 2x short rubber pieces to connect to the radiator and the modified thermostat housing.  The heater hoses run through the fenderwell to keep clear of the hotside:

Heater hoses entering the firewall.  There will be new hoses that fit properly, this is mock-up.   Still needs grommets where it comes through the apron as well as the ports through the firewall.  Will get to that shortly.
