Been making a big push to get this thing back on its wheels again, and of course that is when things go wrong. Started bleeding the brakes and was all done with good pedal then I found out my flared connection to the stock brake line was leaking. Take it back apart cut and re-flare with brake fluid dripping all over me.  >:(  Get that all fixed then clean up my pile of tools bolt the rear wheels on and set it down. It sits pretty good with out the jacked up rear springs like before. Prime the fuel system and no leaks from my connections!  :yay: Kinda cool to hear the bubbles getting pushed into the tank from the return line. Then I find a little seeping at the bulk head fittings in the tank!  >:(

I fire it up and let it idle a bit, cleaning up some more stuff and get ready to roll. I hop in and so does the GF, we roll 5 ft out of the garage and hear a loud noise like the brakes are hanging up... I go again and then back up, still lots of noise. Back into the garage and up in the air to take a look. Turns out my full hockey pucks to help the upper torque arm mount fit in the tunnel better is hindering me now. The drive shaft is rubbing hard against the bottom of the mount bracket. I have 3 options to fix it, lower the tailshaft of the transmission, remove the full pucks and wedge half pucks in, remove driveshaft and put my smaller diameter one in. Quick fix being the smaller shaft... Of course the Grannies shaft is nicer being larger diameter, but its also to long. So for the short term I will just swap in the old shaft. I will take the grannies shaft off to get shortened an inch or 2, also then lowering the tailshaft a bit to fit better.

I almost want to print it off and start checking off all the errors with a red pen like a 7th grade English teacher! I would run out of ink!

The whole ad seems to fit the average IQ of most DSM guys out there haha

What transmission will you be using?  You'll probably have to switch out to an LS1/6 Harness & PCM if you plan on going T56...

Not necessarily, you can use a truck PCM with a manual tune, and the harness just needs to hook up to the VSS. The truck harness would require modification already for other things.

I can't remember which thread on here did it but one guy went the extra mile to install the FC front subframe. I can't even remember the details but it was not just as simple as bolt in and go.

Tons of First Gen builds popping up! Very nice work so far, fuel pump setup reminds me of how mine used to run. I love the drive by wire setup, first swap in a first gen I have seen with it.

Not sure which injectors the LM4 in the Rainer/Trailblazer used in '03 but the rest of the harness would all plug in. Also you mentioned using a grannys oil pan on your LS1, why not just use a Holley LS swap pan of F-body pan and mod the steering center link.  The rest of your swap seems pretty familiar, lol

Sweet! Gonna go with the F-body pan? Get ready to modify the steering center link.

*Edit* wait a min Breckenridge... Gary?
You those shorties I used to run would not work for you bud. The engine could not sit center with them.

Then your only option is a torque arm. That will only require two holes drilled in the tunnel.

I just went ahead with stalling the mounts the best I could, used the 2 3/8" back from e-brake bolt location. I didn't have the fancy looking bushings that come with Granny's kit so I just made my own.

The diff is now installed fully and sitting on the jack stands.

After that I got the Watts links all sorted out, seems the watts link center piece was on the diff up side down. Only ended up using 2 of the 4 supplied bushing between the rod ends of the links and the body of the car. Still need to plum in the rear brakes, hard to do without the calipers mounted up, so that will wait till I get the broken pins in the brackets sorted out.

Then I turned my attention forward to the transmission. Pulled the drain plug and only 1 qt of ATF came out  :o  Shit! I guess the rear seal was leaking worse than I thought, sad thing is I put a new one in when I got the trans. I flushed it with a little new ATF then I filled it with Royal Purple Syncromax fluid, it was either that of Penzoil Syncromesh stuff...  Installed my new/used Pro 5.0 Shifter with TriAxe lever arm. The old boots cover it not to bad, still need a cover for in front of the shifter.

Now I need to do up my fuel lines and hook up a battery, then its time for a drive!  :D

The stock lower links are 19.5' from bolt center to center. If you dont mind doing the cutting and fab work I would say cut the floor up to extend the upper links to the appropriate length.

I have found a solution!

My old front caliper brackets had the same style pin. I grabbed one of my extra brackets off the shelf and low and behold the pin was the perfect size for the TurboII rear calipers.

Now all I have to do is get the busted old pins out and then drill the hole (8mm) larger and tap to 10x1.00  That ought to make them stronger!

The same will happen if I ever break off the small front bolts I think.
